Dear Friend:

The Bogan Quarters, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois is an organization that desires to become the best choice nationally for transitional housing for veteran women, by creating a differentiated experience.  The Bogan Quarters’ innate purpose is to provide a shared living environment for veteran women* who are recovering from adverse (abusive, destructive and/or failing) life experiences that are not conducive to their personal growth and development for independent living.

The development of The Bogan Quarters was inspired additionally by the historical nature of In Wartime Stand-Downs, where front line troops are moved to a place of relative safety for rest and needed assistance before returning to combat.  Similarly, peacetime Stand-Downs give homeless veterans 1-3 days of safety and security where they can obtain food, shelter, clothing and a range of other types of assistance and linkages with other programs.  The Bogan Quarters’ plan is to create an environment that surpasses the standard for transitional housing by providing services and programs that focus on community awareness, peaceful co-habitation, and experiencing cultural diversities, drawing from the interests and strengths of others, aesthetics and rebuilding self esteem. The Bogan Quarters will promote their rights to pursue all possibilities to prepare them for independent living and economic development.

Expanding our exposure and introducing this women’s veteran initiative nationally will be a continued effort on behalf of the Bogan Quarters because we are reminded by the National Veterans Services that, “If we’ve enjoyed some success or happiness in our life, we may want to thank the thousands of troops who’ve defended America and our way of life, and they have probably had more to do with our success, our happiness and our prosperity than we’ve ever realized”.  The opening of the Bogan Quarters is one way of expressing our gratitude.
